Lighter armor was typically worn by those with less physical strength, or for social purposes. While there may have been sparse plate elements, most were light and heavy leathers.
 
Pictured is Lia's lighter armor variant. Notice the use of black and red accents to add a more traditional 'Sith' look to an otherwise Jedi-like light leather ensemble.
