After the Sith’s defeat in the Great Hyperspace War, Drezzi was one of the worlds visited by the victorious Republic’s campaign to exterminate the Red Sith species. The Sith lords of Drezzi, accustomed to frequent conflicts, were quickly mobilized; however, the fractious nature of the world’s leadership left them disunified during this crisis. The Drezzian lords’ lack of coordination in planetary defense and anemic manufacturing base lead to protracted—and ultimately hopeless—struggle across the world’s many continents.
 
Recognizing their impending destruction, some of the lords retreated into the depths of Drezzi. Mines and crypts were hastily secretly converted and expanded into long-term shelters. As those Sith more bold and their Massassi-backed armies charged into battle with the Republic and Jedi invaders, many of the Kissai and Zuguruk castes hid within their newly-established, heavily-secured underground refuges. Eventually the Republic determined that the world was not strategically important in their campaign and began widespread planetary bombardment of any structures on the world. As the Old Sith Empire was reduced to rubble above them, the hidden remnants remained underground, waiting for the Republic’s inevitable obliteration of their civilization, above.
